This tree poses a
threat because it serves as a breeding site for the elm bark
beetles which carry the Dutch elm disease pathogen.
City code requires that these trees be removed within ten days to
prevent the spread of disease. The city forester will reinspect
the area on or after the ten day period and if the tree is still
standing, the city may authorize removal by the city's contractor
and assess the property owner for the costs. City code requires
all tree services working within the city to be licensed. This
is for your protection.
Keep in mind that elmwood cannot be stored on private property
between April 15 and September 1. When the tree is cut down have
the wood disposed of proper to prevent elm bark beetles from
nesting in the wood.
It you have any questions about this removal notice or about
Dutch elm or oak wilt disease, please feel free to contact the
city forester at 644-5050. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS
ds
HOME OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR ANO THE U OF M INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE
A D PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
mEE mr U I
