MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 12, 2005
Knudsen asked if the height was the primary issue with the pylon sign.
The Planner reported that the existing town office developments have
lower signs. The City's Architectural Guidelines indicate a preference for
monument-style signage for this type of development.
Socha asked the height of the existing town office monument signs. The
Planner estimated that heights range from 6 to ] 0 feet. It was estimated
that this monument sign would be 9 feet in heighC.
Duray commented that he preferred the monument-style version of the
sign presented by DuBay this evening. Duray felt that it fit the character
of the development and the area better than the pylon sign. Duray asked if
the sign would be internally lit.
DuBay responded that the sign would not be internally lit, but would have
low voltage flood lights shining on the sign. He pointed out that most of
the businesses are only open during normal business hours; therefore,
there was little need for the sign to be noticeable in the evening.
Wojcik asked what information would be shown on the sign. DuBay
responded that the sign look like the diagram presented. There had been
some discussion about displaying business names on the sign; however,
the town office association decided against that. The only information that
might be added would be the phone number of the management company.
Rheaume asked about sign colors. DuBay indicated that the sign would be
as close to the colors displayed in the diagram as possible. It was also
noted that the location proposed met the City's setback requirements.
Sign size also complies with Code.
Duray recommended approval of the Architectural Review and Final PUD
Permit to add amonument-style sign to the Edgewater Town Office Park
as presented Chis evening by Mr. Tony DuBay, subject to compliance with
the recommendations of the City Planner as outlined in his report dated
May 6, 2005, subject to a nine (9) foot maximum height of the monument
sign, and subject to compliance with Code requirements for sign size and
setbacks.
Motion seconded by Rheaume.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
CUP rOR Mr. Mark Holm, American Tower Corporation, appeared before the
WIRELESS Commission requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow
COMMUNI- the construction and operation of a monopole wireless communication
-2-
