MINUTI'JS
C1TY COUNCIL
JANUARY 2G, 2005
vehicle sales are not technically allowed iu the I-1 DisU'ict, even though a
number of licenses have been issued for this activity. The first
amendment re-establishes that connection. The next amendment creates
an allowance for "indoor" motor vehicle and recreation equipment sales as
a conditional use. ~Iudoor retail sales allow for au office use and require
that any display space be indoor only. The 'Planner explained that the
State's licensing requirements for retail sales requires there be display
space at the site. Display space can be limited to indoor display only.
I~cis asked if the "indoor" retail sales license is something new. The
Planner indicated that he believes it. existed for some time at the State
licensing level, but the City has not had much request for "indoor" retail
motor vehicle dealer licensing. He noted, however, that the City has had
several requests for wholesale motor vehicle dealer licenses.
I{eis asked about outdoor display and storage of vehicles. The Planner
pointed out that under the "indoor" retail motor vehicle dealer license
there would be no outdoor storage or display of vehicles allowed. Also,
the ordinance requires a Conditional Use Permit for this license; therefore,
the City will have additional control over the issuance of the license. The
Plamier indicated that the City has a separate license for "outdoor" retail
motor vehicle dealer license and by ordinance limits the number of these
licenses to four.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Allan, the public hearing was
closed.
Mi. LaValle introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption:
ORDINANCE NO. 5$< - AN ORDINANCF, AMENDING CHAPTERS'
9I1 AND JT.4 OF TIIE I ITT] E CANADA CITI' CODE, KNOWN A.5
THE ZONING ORDINANCE, BI' PROVIDING FOR MOTOR
VEHICZ,E b"ALES IN TIDE LIGHT IND USTRIA7_ ZONING
DISTRICT (I-1)
The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Keis, Blesener, Allan, Montour.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
2
