The City
Administrator reviewed in detail his report dated May 20, 2005 outlining
the options available to the City.
The City Administrator reviewed the police call activity for the City's
larger multi-family housing complexes, noting that the calls for service at
Montreal Courts and The Provinces exceed the acceptable standard used
by other communities. The Administrator reported that discussions have
been held with both the ownership and management of Montreal Courts
relative to Che need for on-site security. However, Montreal Courts has
not been willing to provide the needed security for a number of reasons.
With regard to housing maintenance standards, the Administrator reported
that the City is getting more and more of these complaints all the time. He
indicated that maintenance standards would address such things as
roofing, siding, windows, sidewalks, and railings. The City currently has
nothing in its code relative to maintenance standards and has relied on the
Ramsey County Department of Public Health to address these issues.
