MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 24, 2005
Haggne again stated that the property is an important piece to the
McGough business and there are no good alternative locations. Haggne
suggested that perhaps there are some materials that should be removed
from the site, but stated that most of what is stored on the property is
importanC to the McGough business.
Blesener indicated that the Council must look at what is beneficial to the
City. The City was more than willing to try to relocate this use. He
indicated, however, that the City's next move would be to make an offer
of just compensation.
Mark Brill, McGough Construction, indicated that this property is very
valuable to their business. He pointed out that McGough tried to relocate
the use in the site, but Chat proved to be difficult.
Blesener pointed out that McGough initially indicated a willingness to
relocate the outdoor storage to the Orius site that was identified to them by
the City. However, when McGough brought their potential use of the
Orius property to the Planning Commission and the City Council,
McGough indicated that they would not be relocating the Woodlyn
Avenue outdoor storage to this site, but rather their two Roseville outdoor
storage sites. McGough was merely going to move more outdoor storage
into the City of Little Canada.
Brill indicated that they have tried to find other outdoor sites within Little
Canada, but there is nothing available.
Haggne indicated that McGough can clean up the Woodlyn Avenue site,
but pointed out that the site is noC for junk storage, but a part of their daily
operation where they store critical materials.
The City Administrator felt there was still the potential to relocate
McGough's Woodlyn Avenue site within the City. He suggested there
may be potential in Ryan Industrial Park, which is zoned I-1. The City
may be able to assist in the acquisition of an appropriate site within the
industrial park
Haggne stated that if McGough could have a site in Little Canada thaC iC
owns rather than leases, thaC would be an acceptable solution to them.
Blesener suggested that perhaps there is a site in Shoreview or Vadnais
Heights. Haggne indicated that they have checked and there are no
available sites in the immediate area that would accommodate their
outdoor storage needs.
15
