MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVF,MBER 9, 2005
Allan noted the questions thaC the adjacent neighbor raised at the Planning
Commission meeting. Blesener indicated the neighbor was concerned
about the pool equipment from a safety standpoint given thaC he has small
children.
Whitman reported that the neighbor was asking the type and length of the
fence. Whitman reported that he researched the pool equipment prior to
installation since he has a young child. While the equipment is not
attractive, it is not dangerous. Whitman submitted a landscape plan for the
fence and the pool equipment, and reported that he has received a verbal
approval from the City Planner for this landscape plan.
Blesener asked about the jog in the shared property line with the neighbor
to the west and ensuring that the fence does not cross the property line.
Whitman described the way the property line angles, and noted that there
are property irons in the ground. Therefore, the Building Official will be
able to verify that the fence does not cross the property line.
Montour asked about Che fence plan. Whitman described the plan, noting
that a 4-foot high cedar picket fence is proposed along the west property
line forward of the house. Adjacent to the house, the height of the fence
increases to 6.5 feet in height and changes to the cedar alternating board
style of fence. The fence will job in approximately 7.5 feet at the back of
the house and the height then increases to 8 feet for a length of
approximately 35 feet. Whitman reported that the fence will be wrought
iron at the back of the patio (norCh side).
Blesener asked if there was anyone from the general public wishing to
comment.
Rick Moy, property owner to the east, asked about the landscaping of the
pool equipment. Whitman gave Mr. Moy a copy of the landscape plan
and reviewed it. Moy indicated that the plan was acceptable to him.
There was no one else present from the general public wishing to
comment on Chis matter.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by LaValle, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.2005-11-260 -APPROVING THE
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR A SPECIAL PURPOSE FENCE
EIGHT (8) FEET IN HEIGHT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PATIO
SCREENING SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH THE
