MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />August 6, 2015 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on <br />the 6th day of August, 2015, in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Vice Chair Kong Vang called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Sharen Darling <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Mr. Kong Vang <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Dave Miller <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV Prod. <br />MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the June 4, 2015 <br />meeting. <br />SPOONER PARK Morelan reported that just before Canadian Days the trail behind the upper <br />TRAIL WORK shelter at Pioneer was re -paved. The re -paved portion stretched from the <br />UPDATE upper shelter, back behind the ball field, and down towards the tennis court. <br />The trail is only five feet wide which is smaller than the Cities standard trail, <br />but in order to avoid cutting down many trees along the path the City decided <br />to keep the width the same. Morelan mentioned that the paths looked and <br />worked great for Canadian Days, but that the turf along the path still needed <br />to be planted. <br />BEHLES Morelan reported that Dave Behles' daughter asked to make a donation to <br />DONATION the City in Dave's name. Behles passed away a couple of years ago, but <br />while his family was growing up he was active in the community and <br />coached various sports teams for his children. His daughter Deb wanted the <br />money to go towards scholarships for children who otherwise wouldn't be <br />able to get involved in sports and other activities the City offers. The <br />donation totaled $5000 and will be earmarked for Park and Rec scholarships. <br />Morelan also noted that this will be put in the Le Petit in hopes that families <br />who could use a scholarship will hear about it.
