Sanders stated that
SYSTEM Maplewood has budgeted for the connection to Little Canada near Maple Leaf Court for funding
next year. He indicated that a portion of that connection would have to be boardwalk due to
wetland in the area. The price on the prioritization list has been increased to account for the
boardwalk. Broten commented that he would prefer to see something that can be plowed in the
winter. Sanders stated that he could look into something different for the area, but culverts
would be necessary to correct the drainage problem.
Broten stated that there is no trail along Little Canada Road from the fire station east to
Edgerton Street. He recommended adding that trail section to the listing. The Commission
favored this idea. The Director stated that the project will be challenging due to lack of right-of
way near the fire station, but he agreed that it is imporCant for pedestrian safety in that area,
especially with the extra pedestrian traffic generated from St. John's School and Church.
Boss felt that busier streets should be completed first due to safety issues. She felC that Rice
Street should be a priority. The Director stated that several of the items on the listing are
dependent on development. Sackett Glaser felt that those items should be listed last and can be
moved up as development progresses.
