MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Keis & Members of the City Council
FROM: Jessica Jagoe, Code Enforcement Officer & Veterans Committee Coordinator
DATE: August 26, 2015
RE: Veterans Memorial Award Bids
Planning for Phase II of the Veterans Memorial Park is complete. This phase will include a
Freedom Wall honoring veterans who gave their lives during their service, a War Dog Memorial,
additional benches, as well as a sidewalk installation towards Round Lake onto a future overlook
dock.
City staff received quotes for the work and the following are the low bids for the project -
o Debace Contracting
■ Footing Installation - $13,990
• Sidewalk, Excavation,Pouring, and Erosion Control - $20,048
o Q3 Footing Excavation — Donated
o William Schoenrock (granite pavers) - $1,200
o Rivard Stone
• Freedom Wall, Benches (six), Engraving, and War Dog Memorial
$30,042
• 4x8 Pavers — estimated $500
(Note: Staff is still verifying quantity of pavers needed for Phase II.)
For Phase I construction, the City Council authorized use of Park Land Acquisition Funds
towards concrete sidewalk improvements. Within Phase II, the existing sidewalk is being
extended around the pump house and down towards Round Lake ending at the location of a
future overlook dock for this park. On the drawings, the sidewalk is shown wrapping back up to
Little Canada Road, but that portion is for future installation. At this time, the Veterans
Memorial Committee is requesting that the Council again authorize use of city funds to cover the
costs for the sidewalk. As shown above, the portion of the project the City would fund is
$20,048.
19
