MINUTES CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 26, 2015 APPOINTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR VETERANS MEMORIAL *CALL FOR A STAFF TRANSITIONAL PLANNING WORKSHOP FOR SEPTEMBER 9, 2015 AT 6:00 P.M.; RATIFYING THE 2016 BUDGET REVIEW SCHEDULE AS PROPOSED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR; The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. The City Administrator reviewed his August 21, 2015 report recommending appointment of the Public Works Superintendent to Public Works Director effective September 1, 2015. The Administrator noted that with completion of the new Public Works facility and given the fact that Public Works Maintenance and Public Works are now housed under one roof, he was also recommending that the supervision of Parks Maintenance be added to the Public Works Director's responsibilities. With the title change and additional responsibilities, the Administrator presented the Council with a proposed new salary scale and recommended that the position be compensated at year 3 on the scale from September 1st to the end of the year and at year 4 for 2016. McGraw felt the recommendation made sense given Public Works and Parks Maintenance would be housed under one roof. Fischer felt that the current Superintendent has earned this promotion. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2015-8-170 — APPOINTING BILL DIRCKS AS PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2015, PLACING THE PARKS MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR, AND RATIFYING THE PAY SCALE PROPOSED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR WITH THE DIRECTOR TO BE AT STEP 3 ON THE SCALE EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 AND AT STEP 4 ON THE SCALE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2016 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
