MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 28, 2015
revising the work scope, the Engineer was able to get that pricing down to
$50,000. The Administrator pointed out that, as the Council is aware,
median work is required at the County Road B-2 railroad crossing in order
to qualify the establishment of quiet zones within the City.
The Administrator reported that recently the City learned of a rubberized
curbing product that could be used as an alternative to the proposed
concrete curbing planned for the County Road B-2 railroad crossing. This
product is approved by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for this
use. Estimated cost of this product is between $10,000 and $12,000 with
City crews doing the installation work, The Administrator reported that
the City of Plymouth has used this rubberized curbing for the past three
years and has had no concerns. The Administrator further reported that
there have been no concerns relative to snowplowing, frost, etc. The
Administrator recommended that the rubberized median product be
utilized for the County Road B-2 railroad crossing. He indicated that
should the use of this product prove unsuccessful, the City could combine
the installation of concrete curbing with a future street project at a more
economical price than the $50,000 currently quoted.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2015-10-215 — APPROVING THE USE OF THE
QWICKKURB PRODUCT AT THE COUNTY ROAD B-2 RAILROAD
CROSSING AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
CABLE TV Montour asked the status of the cable TV upgrades in the Council
UPGRADES Chambers. The City Administrator reported that the muting system for the
microphones will be installed soon. He also noted some technical
difficulties during the broadcast of this evening's meeting. Vanessa Van
Alstine, Cable TV Producer, reported that Alpha Video will be in
tomorrow to install the muting system. She indicated that Alpha will also
look into the issues that are occurring this evening.
14
