MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCII, <br />APRIL 28, 2004 <br />Council reviewed the action plan relative to "Re-evaluate the Public <br />Works Garage" goal. The City Administrator indicated that he feels there <br />are basically three potential sites for a new public works garage. It was <br />the consensus of the Council that staff should contact these property <br />owners to determine whether or not they a~~e interested in the voluntary <br />sale of their properties. The Administrator reported that the appraisal <br />should be completed on the County Road B property at a cost of $2,500. <br />He indicated that Gordie Howe has expressed interest in purchasing that <br />property for an office/warehouse development. Montour suggested that <br />we not forget abouC the possible excess Frattalone properCy. <br />Council reviewed the "Assist Sheriff"s Department in Crime Prevention <br />Efforts" action plan. The Administrator indicated that he has reviewed the <br />action plan with Undersheriff Altendorfer who is in agreement with the <br />plan. The Administrator also reported that the Sheriffs Department has <br />suggested that the City adopt a lock box ordinance that would require <br />commercial property owners to install lock boxes that the deputies have <br />access Co. The Sheriff's Department will be presenting sample ordinances <br />on this issue. <br />The Administrator furCher reported that the Mayor, Council Member <br />Montour, and he have met with representatives of Montreal Courts relative <br />to increased crime prevention measures that management of the <br />apartments should be undertaking. Similar meetings will likely be held <br />with Ruth Street property owners and the owners of other multiple <br />housing in the City that have high crime incidents. <br />The Council indicated that it would review the "Implement Business <br />Revolving Loan Program" action plan as a part of the regular Council <br />meeting immediately following this workshop. <br />The Council reviewed the "Re-evaluate and Dispose of Unneeded City <br />Property" action plan. Again, it was noted that the County Road B <br />property is currently being appraised. The Parks & Rec Director <br />commented that he did not feel the County Road B property was a good <br />location for a future Public Works Garage based on the fact that it is on <br />the perimeter of the City. The previous discussion relative to potential <br />Public Works sites in Ryan Industrial Park was noted. <br />T'he Council agreed with the "Continue Aggressiveness in Code <br />Enforcement Area" action plan. <br />Council reviewed the "Re-assess the City's Role in Charitable Gambling <br />Operations" action plan noting the recent efforts the City made in assisting <br />the charities operating at the Little Canada Bingo Hall in obtaining <br />
