MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 15, 2004 <br />The City Administrator repor'Ced that this issue was discussed with Tom <br />Barrett, Executive Director of the Gambling Control Board, earlier this <br />year. Mr. Barrett indicated at that time that this problem was not miique to <br />the charities operating at the .Little Canada Bingo Hall. It is a common <br />problems for charities conducting bingo hall operations. <br />It was the consensus of the Council that the letter should be sent to the <br />Gambling Control Board, the League of Minnesota Cities, and State <br />Legislators to enlist their help to address this problem. It was suggested <br />that a copy of the letter be seat to the Little Canada Bingo Hall charities so <br />that Chey can join in this lobbying effort It was noted that the letter should <br />be revised to indicate this is a recommendation of the City Council. <br />Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUT/ON NO. 2(104-72-3I7 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY <br />ADA4INISTRATOR TD FORWARD T/~E7_ETTP.R TO THE <br />GANH37.ING CONT2O/, BOARD REI ATIVE TO THE I3INC0 HALI. <br />COMPLIANCE ISS(IL'S AS DISCUSSED A.S WB'1 I_ AS TO THE <br />LEAGUE OF MN CITIES AND THE APPROPRIATE LEGLS'LATOXS <br />AND LOB73IES1'S AS' DIb'C(ISSED <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Montow', Fahey, Blesener, Allan, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />MAYOR FAIiEY The City Administrator thanked Mayor Fahey for the trust and confidence <br />that he has placed in City staff over the years. ITe recognized the Mayor <br />for his leadership and the team spirit that he fostered in both the Council <br />and staff. The Administrator indicated That Mayor Fahey has been au <br />excellent Mayor for Little Canada and has done a greatjob for the City. <br />The City Attorney expressed his appreciation for being able to work with <br />Mayor Fahey for the past 22 years. The City Attorney indicated that <br />,Mayor Fahey has provided a great example of governance, and he thanked <br />him for his service. <br />The City Planner indicated that he has worked with a lot of mayors in his <br />career, and Mayor Fahey has been one of the best. 'I"he City Planner <br />indicated that it has been a pleasure working with Mayor Fahey. <br />Mayor Fahey commented on the ability of the Little Canada City Council, <br />consultants and staff to work together over the years.
