MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 10, 2008
Dave and Karen Holm described the location of 53 Woodlyn noting it is a
secluded area and not visible from anywhere other than Woodlyn Avenue.
Karen Holm indicated that it is not possible to fence this property, therefore,
the use of storage containers both secures and screens the equipment.
Duray asked how many containers the Holm's are seeking. Dave Holm
indicated that they currently have 8, but would like to have to ability to
increase to 11 if there is the need to in the future.
Helmeke asked if the CUP and Variance ran with the land. The City
Planner replied that they did as long as conditions of approval are met. If
not, the City has the ability to revoke.
It was noted that the Fire Marshal has recommended that a 20 foot fire lane
be maintained around the building.
Knudsen recommended approval of the Conditional Use permit allowing
outdoor storage of storage containers as well as a Variance to allow up to
eleven (11) storage containers at 53 Woodlyn Avenue, On-Site Air Temp,
Inc. based on the findings as outlined in the City Planner's report dated July
3, 2008, and subject to the containers being painted to match the building
and being kept in good repair, and subject to the recommendation of the
Fire Marshal as outlined in his report dated
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
CUP & Dave Holm, On-Site Sanitation, appeared before the Commission
VARIANCE - requesting a Conditional Use Permit allowing outdoor storage of portable
95 WOODLYN toilets as well as a Variance to allow the south fence line to remain in its
AVENUE - present location and outdoor storage beyond the front line of the building
ON-SITE at 95 Woodlyn Avenue. Holm reported that he would like to leave his
SANITATION existing fence where it is. To move the fence back would result in the loss
of approximately 3,000 square feet of outdoor storage area. Holm noted
that there is a maintained boulevard area adjacent to the fence.
The Commission pointed out the differences between to aerials photos
relative to the number of portable toilets being stored. Karen Holm reported
that the inventory varies. During the summer months, the ideal situation is
that there are no portable toilets being stored. Storage is at its peak during
winter months. Holm pointed out that this is a slow construction year,
therefore, storage is up.
-14-
