MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 10, 2008
Knudsen stated that his only issue is that the property owner is not present
to represent which design he prefers. Knudsen noted that the garage
without the second story most easily fits within the City's guidelines.
Duray indicated that he was most comfortable with the single-story garage.
Duray stated that total space at 1,500 square feet was acceptable to him
given the lot is over two acres in size.
Hall indicated that he was most inclined to deny the application and let the
property owner redesign his plan. Knudsen noted that the Commission
could pass it on to the Council with a recommendation for asingle-story
garage. He noted that the property owner submitted three options, one of
which is the single-story garage.
David Wilson, 636 Keller Parkway, submitted an aerial that shows the
layout of the structures on the property. Wilson wanted to know how the
proposed garages would relate to the existing house, and was concerned that
a large garage would have the appearance of a pole building. Wilson also
pointed out the I S foot height maximum. The Planner indicated that the 15
feet is the average height between the ridge and the peak. Wilson stated
that he wanted to know about windows, doors, the appearance of the garage.
Knudsen indicated that the garage will have to match the house. He pointed
out that this is an expensive piece of property and felt that the future new
house and garage would match. The City Planner indicated that the Code
requires that the building materials for the garage match the principle
structure. When the new house is constructed, it will have to match the
garage.
Duray recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit to allow two
garages as well as total garage space up to a maximum of 1,500 square feet
for 620 Keller Parkway, David Schwietz, subject to compliance with the
recommendations of the City Planner as outlined in his report dated July 3,
2008, and subject to the larger garage being limited to a one-story garage
structure.
Motion seconded by Hall.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
PROPERTY Randy Kurth, Kurth Surveying, appeared before the Commission
DIVISION - requesting approval of a minor subdivision for 580 and 588 County
580 AND 588 Road B-2 subdividing a third lot from the back of these two lots. Kurth
COUNTY reviewed the properties pointing out that 580 and 588 County Road
ROAD B-2 - B-2 are approximately 289 feet deep. The lot that would be created
-3-
