MINUTES Or THE WORKSIIOP MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
MARCH 12, 2003
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City
Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 12th day of
March, 2003 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515
Little Canada Road in said City.
Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL:
Mayor
Cowrcil Member
Council Member
Council Member
Council Member
Mr. Michael I. Fahey
Mr. Matt Anderson
Mr. Bill Blesener
Mr. Jim LaValle
Mr. Rick Montour
ALSO PRESENT
City Administrator
City Engineer
Public Works Dir.
Deputy Clerk
Volunteer Planting
Coordinator
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
Mr. Lee T;lfering
Mr. Greg Schroeder
Ms. Kathy Glanzer
M .Barbara Allan
MARKET The City Administrator noted that the City is currently bidding the
PLACE reconstruction of Market Place Drive. In addition to the improvement
5TREETSCAPE and relocation of the street, the Council must consider the type of
AMENITIES streetscape improvements that will be made along Market Place Drive.
The Administrator indicated that the fist item for consideration is that of
sidewalk improvements. He described the proposed sidewalk locations as
well as the fact that the transit lmb will be relocated and the proposal for
sidewalk access to that hub. Council must decide if sidewalks will be
constructed of poured concrete, stamped concrete, or paver bricks.
The second issLie is that of lighting. The Administrator noted that Little
Canada Road is extremely well lit. One option would be to remove
existing streetlights on the south side of Little Canada Road and reuse
those lights along Market Place Drive. The Administrator noted that
there will be lighting on the senior building on the corner of Rice and
Little Canada Road that will mitigate the loss of streetlights on the south
side of the street.
