A!IINUTCS <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNI'/ 1l, 2003 <br />Chester asked if the City's intention was to Keep doing goose roundups. <br />Fahey pointed out that the roundup program has proven to be successful <br />for the City when conducted on an every other year basis. Fahey noted <br />that the City did not do a round up last year, which would have been a <br />year to do it based on a two-yeas roundup schedule, and the population is <br />again at nuisance levels. <br />Blesener pointed out that St. Jude Medical has indicated that they will <br />participate in the cost of the roundup. <br />Mary Kay Rowan, St. John's School, reported that Che geese on east <br />Savage Lake are a nuisance at the school grounds both from safety and <br />sanitation perspectives. Rowan supported a goose roundup. <br />Theresa Jansen, ? 15 Demont Avenue, reported that the geese on west <br />Savage Lal<e are a nuisance and have taken control of her baclryard. <br />Jansen reported that the geese present both a safety and sanitation hazard. <br />Jansen indicated that, in addition to herself and her husband, the property <br />owners at 195, 209, v~d 225 Demont Avenue are also in support of a <br />goose roundup. Jansen also pointed out that Nadeau Park is full of goose <br />droppings. <br />Anderson asked if St. John's had been asked if they would participate in <br />the cost of the roundup. The City Adminish~ator indicated that St. John's <br />has been asked, but have yet to respond. <br />Council discussed whether all the geese should be taken or if a banded <br />pair should be left at each site. The consensus was to leave a banded pair. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RL'SOI_[JTION NO. 20(13-G-129 -ACTt7ORIZING CITYSTAFF' TO <br />CONTRACT W/TF/ 1)/t COOPER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF <br />M/NNESOTA FOR A GOOSE ROUNDUP BASED ON THE <br />RECOMAIENDAT/ON,S ~I S CONTi1lNEU IN DR. COOPER'S <br />REPORT AND IN.S'TRUC%'ING DR. COOPER TO l EAVE ONE <br />BANDED PA/RAT EACH .SITE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Montour, Anderson, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />8 <br />
