MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 10, 2003
Roycraft asked about the house being used for a shelter for abused
women, and pointed out that he would have concerns relative to security
with that type of use. Bisciglia replied that the Church shares those same
concerns, and is not planning to utilize the house as a women's sheher.
He pointed out, again, that there would be one person residing at the house
on afull-time basis.
Roycraft asked about parking. Bisciglia reported that there is ample
parking at the site. The Planner noted that the Building Official might
look at the issue of handicapped parking.
Duray asked if the addition would match the exterior of the existing
structure. Bisciglia replied that it would.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Keis recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit to allow the
expansion of anon-conforming use (boarding house) at 450 Little Canada
Road as requested by St. John's Church subject to the exterior of the
addition matching the existing structw'e.
Motion seconded by Roycraft.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
PRELIMINARY, Jesse Anesi, Aldi Foods, appeared before the Commission requesting
FINAL PLAT approval of a. Preliminary and Final Plat as well as Architectural Review
AND related to the development of an Aldi Foods grocery store on the
ARCHITECTURAL Schroeder property on Rice Street. Anesi reported that they reviewed
REVIEW - the recommendations of the City Engineer and have modified their site
RICE STREET - plan to comply with those recommmendations. With regard to the
ALD.I FOODS recommendations of the City Planner, Anesi reported that they would
comply with each, except for recommendation #6 as he explained that the
window area on the building is recessed in approximately 10 feet. The
Planner indicated that the fact that this window area was recessed was
adequate to meet the intention of his recommendation.
Anesi explained the Rice Street access drive for the Aldi Foods store and
the fact that the access for Bally's will be moved a little south so that it is
located between the south end of the Aldi parking lot and just north or
Arby's. This new location will provide a more direct access into the
Bally's parking lot.
-2-
