MINUTES Parks & Recreation Commission January 3, 2002 at a later date to review new plans for The park. She also stated that the Commission makes recommendations, but the City Council has final say ou the park development plans. Sackett Glaser stated that City staff should begin review of this matter to determine if staging is feasible and to address other concerns of the residents. Then, staff can come back to the Commission with their recommendation. Sanders stated that the project is ready to go out to bid. He commented that if the basketball court is added at a later date, the City will pay more for the court and the park will already be developed making the court harder to install. The Director stated that there are residents that were not present at tonight's meeting that maybe in favor of the court. Sanders suggested bidding the court as an alternate so that he could proceed with the bid process. The Commission agreed. ELF,CTION OF Gray recommezded that Sackett Glaser Ge nomizzated as Chair of tl:e Commission. OFFICERS Motion seconded by Larson. Motion carried 4 - 0. Larson reconzn:ended that Scl:abacker be rzonzinated as Vice-Chair of the Comnzissiozz. Motion seconded by Gray. Motion carried 4 - 0. MINUTES Larson reconnzzended that the minutes from the meeting dated October 4, 2001 be approved as submitted Motion seconded by Gray. Motion carried 4 - 0. LOT SPLIT The Director stated that past policy has been for the Commission to review all lot splits REVIEW to determine if cash or land is preferred for the park charge. There has not been a fom~al policy adopted on this matter. It was suggested to have staff refer only those lot splits to the Commission that warrant obvious discussion. Simple lot splits where no land is desired would not need Commission review. Gray recommended giving City staff discretion on when to refer lot splits to tl:e Commission for review.
