MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 2, 2002 <br />The Director stated that nothing has been budgeted for this improvement yet. Therefore, this <br />item is not urgent and needs no action at this time. <br />PARKS The Commission decided to tour the parks before their June 6`" meeting at 6 p.m. The <br />TOUR property to be toured includes the Turnquist/Palmen property and Gervais Mill Park. <br />DIRECTOR The Director reported on the following: <br />REPORT <br />• Flyers for the Summer Youth Activities Registration, Super Summer Day Camp, Summer <br />Youth Trips, Market Place Morning Talks, and the Spring Clean-up Day were distributed <br />to the Commission for their review. <br />• The workshop with MNDOT relative to the 35E/694 project is up in the air at this time. <br />They are still working on the scope of the project. Drainage issues are impacting the trail <br />connection crossing Edgerton Street. <br />• The Friends of the Parks and Trails have held their annual tree sale. Two residents <br />purchased trees and donated them to Little Canada's parks. Jim Broten donated two <br />Black Hills Spruce and an anonymous person donated two Prairiefire Crab Apple trees. <br />The Director thanked these persons for their contributions to our parks. <br />• Arbor Day was held last Friday. Sackett Glaser, Sanders, and the Director were present. <br />Bev Scalze represented the City Council. Children from St. John's and Little Canada <br />Elementary Schools attended as well. <br />• Ramsey County's beach improvements are moving ahead. They will beholding another <br />meeting regarding this issue in the near future. <br />TELEVISING The Commission was not in favor of televising their meetings. They felt the City should <br />MEETINGS instead encourage attendance. Additionally, they did not believe the nature of their meetings <br />warranted televising at this time. <br />Cray reco~nrnended against televising of the Parks & Recreatio~a Con:raissio~z meetings. <br />Motion seconded by Larson. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />The Director commented that AT&T Broadband was responsible for the previous audio <br />problems on Little Canada's Cable Channel 16 and they claim to have repaired the problem <br />within the last two weeks. He told those present to let him know if they notice further audio <br />problems. <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
