MINUTES OI' THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />June 25, 2002 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 25°i day of June, 2002 <br />in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Vice-Chair Robert Schabacker called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and the following <br />members of the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Robert Schabacker, Vice-Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Ms. Carla Horwath <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />MINUTES Steinert recommended that the minutes from the meeting dated June 6, 2002 be approved <br />as subneitted. <br />Motion seconded by Larson. <br />Motio~a carried 4 - 0. <br />CONCERTS The Director stated that he has met with the owner of the A&W Root Beer and they have <br />agreed to provide a couple of workers that night to help serve some of their root beer and/or <br />the ice cream. Additionally, they will provide the root beer and they said that they can get <br />the ice cream cups at a discounted rate. The owner said that he would order enough ice <br />cream for 600 people to make sure we have enough for everyone. He indicated that the cost <br />would be about 25¢ a cup. The Director suggested also buying some larger cups, spoons, <br />and straws for the people that do want to make root beer floats. <br />The Director stated he has sent out letters to the four charities that have helped us sponsor the <br />concerts in the past. He had requested $125 a piece, thinking that $500 would cover our <br />costs. He received a check from Millennium Charity Plus and one from Canadian Days <br />Committee, both for $125. He has not heard yet from North Suburban Youth Foundation or <br />Lake Owasso Residence Volunteer Council. North Suburban Youth Foundation may need a <br />representative from the Commission to attend one of their meetings to personally request a <br />donation. The Director will ask Horwath to attend that meeting, if necessary. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
