The park will be closed in 2003 while construction
continues, and should be reopened in 2004.
Holmberg stated that every year, the County chooses a different park to improve. Gervais
Beach was chosen due to drainage concerns, handicapped accessibility issues, erosion occurring
in the area, and poor condition of the picnic shelter. It was also noted that a fishing pier was
needed.
The firm of Sanders, Wacker, Wehrman Architects was retained to prepare plans for the
improvements. Bill Sanders presented a plan of the park to those in attendance. Changes
include the following:
Entrance will be moved 20 feet south of existing opening and will feature a pedestrian
connection to Edgerton Street.
Parking along the lake side of the entrance will be added.
