BUS BENCH SiIRVEY <br />JANUARY, 2002 <br />ARD.EN ,HILLS <br />Bus benches are treated as signage and signage in the right-of--way is prohibited under <br />their ordinance. Therefore, these benches are not allowed. <br />FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Currently they have no prohibition or licensing requirement relative to bus benches. <br />However, the City Administrator is trying to get funding for "city bus benches". If she is <br />able to get the funding, then she will propose an ordinance to the council prohibiting any <br />other bus benches. They currently have a problem with the owners of the bus benches in <br />the city maintaining the benches and keeping them clean, in addition to what she views as <br />a temporary sign problem. <br />MAPLEWOOD <br />Bus benches are allowed under their ordinance. An annual license of $58 for the first <br />bench and $35 for each additional bench is required. The ordinance establishes st~u~dards <br />and conditions that must be complied with. <br />ROSEVILLE <br />They allow bus benches, but require an annual license ($25.00). Their ordinance also <br />spells out criteria that must be met. Roseville has had problems with trash and litter <br />around the benches. <br />SHORUVIEW <br />Shoreview allows bus benches, but require athree-year license ($3,000.00). Ordinance <br />spells out criteria that must be met for the benches. <br />
