MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
FEBRUARY 14, 2002
The Planner indicated that the City Engineer likely feels it is preferable
from a safety standpoint to have traffic at Jackson Street rather than
adding another driveway onto Little Canada Road.
Wojcik asked about traffic volumes to and from Ruff Cuts. The owner of
Ruff Cuts anticipated that there would be 25 patrons to the site each day.
Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, except
that the business would be upon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday evenings-
I<cis asked about additional windows and dressing up the fascia as
recommended by the City Planner. The Planner noted that the
architectural guidelines talk about vertical a~ientation of windows as well
as cornice treatments. Perry indicated that they would add more windows
to the frau of the building as well as add some cornice treatments. He
would work with the City Planner on these issues. Perry also noted that a
landscape plan will be developed for the property once the storm water
issues are addressed. The Planner noted that shrubs along the exterior of
the parking lot will prevent headlights from shining in the windows of the
townhomes across the street.
Keis indicated that the landscape plan will require approval of the City
Plauuer.
One property owner from the area suggested that if Little Canada Road is
to be the City's main street, then the access drive for Ruff Cuts should be
on Little Canada Road. He also suggested that perhaps a shared driveway
with Lenfer Transmission was an option.
Carson recommended approval of the architectural review for Ruff Cuts
provided that window space be increased, cornice treaUnents added, and a
landscaping plan developed all of which are satisfactory to the City
Planner, and requiring brick on the east and south sides of the building,
and indicating that the issue of driveway access be discussed with the City
Engineer, with the Planning Commission supporting the conclusion of the
City Engineer.
Motion seconded by Duray.
Motion carried 5 -- 0.
CONll1TIONAL AI Mentes, 3058 Greenbrier Street, appeared before the Couvnission
USE PERMIT - requesting approval of a CUP for accessory garage space over 1,000
3058 square feet in size.
