MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />JANUARY 11, 2016 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 1 lth day of <br />January, 2016 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor John Keis called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />City Administrator <br />City Clerk <br />Mr. John Keis <br />Mr. Tom Fischer <br />Mr. Mike McGraw <br />Mr. Rick Montour <br />Mr. Christian Torkelson <br />Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Ms. Heidi Heller <br />PARKS & The purpose of this evening's meeting is to review the Parks and <br />RECREATION Recreation Strategic Plan that the subcommittee has been working on for <br />STRATEGIC the last few months. Councilmember Fischer had a Powerpoint <br />PLAN presentation of the Strategic Plan that he reviewed. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Fischer noted who the subcommittee members were; Parks & Recreation <br />Director Jim Morelan, and Katie McGinnity and Don Bowman from the <br />Parks and Recreation Department, Sharen Darling and Dave Miller from <br />the Parks & Recreation Commission, Jon Joriman, President of the Little <br />Canada Recreation Association, City Administrator Joel Hanson, and <br />Council Members Christian Torkelson and Tom Fischer. Council Member <br />Fischer facilitated the process. <br />Fischer reviewed the process that the subcommittee used to develop the <br />Mission and Vision, and noted that they also looked at several other cities <br />Parks and Recreation Mission and Vision statements. He noted that the <br />committee had overwhelmingly chosen the following core values: <br />excellent customer service, promoting a sense of community pride, well <br />maintained and safe parks and facilities, and programming for all ages and <br />abilities. He reviewed a Core Purpose or Mission: reasons for being, and a <br />focus or beacon to aim for; then stated the Mission that the committee has <br />worked on: The Parks & Recreation Department's reason for being <br />
