Staff recommends increasing the fee for Notary acts from $1.00 to $5.00 per signature. Zoning Letters Cities are requested by financial institutions to provide a “zoning letter” for certain real estate transactions, typically commercial or larger residential properties. The financial companies are requesting the city where the property being financed is located, verify that the zoning is compatible with the existing use and other property information during a purchase or refinancing. City staff spends time doing research on the property and then compiling the letter for the banks. It is common practice for cities to charge a fee for this service. Staff recommends adding a Zoning Letter fee of $50.00. Public Assembly Fee In 2009, the City Council passed an ordinance establishing requirements for public assemblies, including parades. The ordinance requires that the assembly must first register with the city, and staff has created a permit application, but a fee for the permit has not yet been established. Staff recommends adding a Public Assembly fee of $50.00. In addition to approving the changes noted above, staff is recommending the adoption of an ordinance amending the City’s Fee Schedule accordingly.
