The Director explained one will
be offered this spring, and a firearms safety instructor has already offered
to lead the course. A second course will be offered in August right in time
for fall hunting.
The Director reported the Department will be trying to offer the
Scrapbooking class again this spring. Last fall, there were not enough
participants to offer the class.
The Director reported the youth basketball teams attended the
Timberwolves game on January 23rd. It’s a great way for participants to
see the professional or college players in action. This was sponsored by
the Little Canada Recreation Association.
The Director reported the Maggie Nichols Meet and Greet on December
19th went very well and over 100 people attended. The Little Canada
Recreation Association provided refreshments for the event.
The Director reported the Warming House Grand Opening on January 9th
was a cold, but happy celebration. Attendance was low, but CTV was able
to come and film a short advertisement that is currently airing on the local
cable channel.
The Director reported the Volunteer Coaches/Little Canada Recreation
Association Members Appreciation Party on January 23rd was well
attended. It was a fun family event at the Little Canada Bingo Hall.
The Director reported the Annual Skating Party took place on February
13th. The Little Canada Recreation Association put on the event.
The Director reported the Little Canada Recreation Association Annual
Ice Fishing Contest was on February 6th. It was a very successful
fundraiser with just under 900 holes drilled, great weather, and also the
Little Canada Fire Department Booya.
The Director reported the adult softball league is currently open for
registration, although numbers are down statewide.
The Parks and Recreation Spring Activity flyer will be going out to
schools March 1st. Registration can be done online.
Ray asked if The Director would continue to be the Parks and Recreation
Commission liaison once he becomes part time.
