4
8.Signage. Signage is being reduced, in that the order board graphics are no longer a
part of the proposal.
Summary and Recommendation
The original staff report incorporated the following conditions as a requirement for approval.
These continue to be part of the staff recommendation, as amended or modified by the
comments noted above.
The applicant has proposed to add additional landscaping and fence changes to increase the
buffer to the east to address a portion of these impacts. Planning staff believes that the
proposed drive-through can be accommodated with some additional consideration to site
planning. The following options should be considered:
a. Add landscape buffering to the north property line to augment the existing
vegetation.
b. Consider shifting the drive-through order board and window one car-length to
the east (to the rear of the site) to facilitate quicker turning for traffic existing
from the drive lane, and increasing distance from the entrance to the
Valvoline building.
c. Ensure that no additional lighting, other than the improvements noted in the
application, is proposed for the site to avoid potential lighting glare toward
residential property.
d. Add an internal stop sign for north-bound rear-lot vehicles existing the
property through the drive-through lane area.
e. Provide pavement markings to reinforce the circulation patterns for entering
and exiting traffic.
f. Add landscaping to the island created by the order-board location.
pc: Heidi Heller
Jessica Jagoe
Steve Westerhaus
Lee Elfering
Neal Anderson
