MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 10, 2016
Schwalbach asked if in the past these requests had been approved and if
there was a precedence set. The City Planner replied that Conditional Use
Permits for oversize garages have typically been approved, but he does not
think that any precedence has been set regarding these.
Schwalbach recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit for an
attached oversize garage that exceeds 1,000 square feet at 2950 Thunder
Bay Court, with all of the conditions outlined in the City Planner's report
dated March 3, 2016.
Motion seconded by Buesing,
Motion carried 4 — 0.
CONDITIONAL
The City Planner stated that this is the same request as the previous case
USE PERMIT
and the two garages will abut each other. He explained that this request is
FOR AN
for a new home with an attached garage that is 1,362 square feet, and
OVERSIZE
would be a typical three car wide garage with the extra space in the rear.
ATTACHED
He noted that both of the lots requesting the Conditional Use Permits
GARAGE AT 2945
tonight greatly exceed the minimum square footage requirements, and this
THUNDER BAY
lot is about three-quarters of an acre in size.
COURT
The City Planner stated that staff recommends approval with the following
conditions:
1. No business activities shall occur within the structure, subject to other
zoning permits or processing.
2. The curb -cut access shall be 24 feet or less in width.
Dave Johnson, 3673 Lexington Avenue N., stated that he will be the new
owner of the house and intends to use the extra space only for personal
storage, and is agreeable to the conditions stated by the City Planner.
Buesing recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit for an
attached oversize garage that exceeds 1,000 square feet at 2945 Thunder
Bay Court, with all of the conditions outlined in the City Planner's report
dated March 3, 2016.
Motion seconded by Davison.
Motion carried 4 — 0.
