• Rates for refuse collection and recycling should be going up by no more than 2% per
year.

• The haulers have asked for a pretty hefty increase in our subscription yard waste service
($48 per year currently – asking for $72). We have asked them for better supporting data
before we will agree to any change.

• They have also asked for increased to Schedule B. This is a listing of rates for pickup of
additional bulky items over the three per year currently allowed. According to our
records, this only involves about 40 additional items in a year, but we are looking at this
as part of our bulky item utilization.

• We have asked for the creation of a townhome rate at a level below our standard rates
due to efficiencies in collection due to higher densities. This can then be offered to
associations to see if they want to join our program.

• The County has asked us to include provisions regarding the addition of multi-family
recycling. We aren’t sure this makes sense in our contract, but we are asking for the
cooperation of the haulers to help us evaluate/resolve this situation in the future. (Note:
We may only have to strengthen our ordinances for licensed hauling and then seek the
County’s assistance in enforcement.)

We are hopeful we will have a final document available for Wednesday’s meeting. If you have
comments or questions in the meantime, please let us know.
