MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 11, 2017 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />2017 FIRE The City Administrator stated that there were only small changes to the <br />DEPARTMENT 2017 Fire Department contract. He explained that the language dealing <br />CONTRACT with a required contribution to the Fire Equipment Fund from their <br />charitable gaming operations was removed based on discussions with <br />them last year. He stated the only other key changed to this document <br />involves revisions to the quarterly payment amount based on the 2017 <br />approved budget. He noted that the Fire Department has not formally <br />approved this contract yet, but they have received a copy to review. <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2017-1-8 —APPROVING THE 2017 FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT CONTRACT AS PRESENTED BY THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR, SUBJECT TO ANY COMMENTS BY THE <br />LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />DISCUSS 2017 The City Administrator stated that staff is looking for direction on what <br />GOAL SETTING the Council would like to do for goal setting this year. Keis stated he <br />PROCESS thinks it should be done and it is important. Fischer stated he agrees that it <br />should be done, and the Council should also talk about what goals are still <br />in process, and suggested maybe that should be done ahead of time. The <br />City Administrator stated the session would ideally be held in mid to later <br />February, and staff will advertise that we are looking for resident <br />participation. The Council agreed to ask Mark Nagel to facilitate again. <br />REVIEW HIRING The City Clerk stated the job description has been finalized and is now <br />PROCESS FOR posted on the League of Minnesota Cities and the City's websites. Staff <br />PARKS & has also looked at posting on LinkedIn or the Star Tribune's online job <br />RECREATION posting site. There was Council consensus to advertise in the Star Tribune <br />POSITION and on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits job board. <br />The City Administrator stated that applications are due on February 10`h <br />and the plan is to have the new person starting by early April. He noted <br />that the Parks & Recreation Commission wants representation during the <br />
