3 <br />• A minimum of four square feet per chicken would be required with a maximum coop <br />area of 40 square feet <br />• Minimum setbacks of 25 feet from principal structures and 10 feet from all property <br />lines would be required <br />• Coops would be prohibited within utility easements <br />• The height of coops would not be allowed to exceed 10 feet in height <br />• The color of the coops would be required to be the same or similar to the principal <br />structure <br />• The material requirements of the coop would mimic the City’s accessory building <br />requirements (as provided in the Zoning Ordinance) <br />• Coops would have to be constructed in a manner to protect chickens from extreme <br />heat and cold <br />• Coops would be required to be maintained in good condition <br />• Coops would need to comply with Building Code requirements <br /> <br />Run Requirements: <br /> <br />• Runs would need to be attached to and provided access to the coop <br />• Minimum setbacks of 25 feet from principal structures and 10 feet from all property <br />lines would be required <br />• Coops would be prohibited within utility easements <br />• A maximum of one run would be allowed per lot <br />• The maximum of the area of the run would not the allowed to exceed 20 square feet <br />per chicken <br />• Runs would be required to be fully enclosed and covered with durable materials. <br />Structural components of the run would be required to be consistent with coop <br />materials <br />• Fencing materials used as run components would be required to be consistent with <br />fence requirements imposed in residential zoning districts <br />• Runs would be required to be maintained in good condition <br /> <br />Sanitation Requirements: <br /> <br />• The slaughtering of backyard chickens would be prohibited <br />• The sale of chicken or chicken byproducts would not be allowed <br />• The premises would be required to be kept clean from filth, garbage, and any <br />substances which attract rodents <br />• Coops and surroundings area would be required to be cleaned frequently (to control <br />odor) <br />• Manure would not be allowed to accumulate in a way that causes an unsanitary <br />condition or causes odors to be detectible from another property <br />• Grain and food stored (for backyard chickens) would be required to be kept indoors in <br />a rodent-proof container <br />• Persons no longer intending to keep backyard chickens would be required to notify <br />the City in writing and remove the enclosed coop and run
