<br />with the exception of appliance pickup. The City will schedule appliance pickup and the <br />pickup day shall be arranged with each respective contractor. <br /> <br />c. Process for Collection. The resident shall contact the City directly to request pickup of <br />the bulky item(s). The resident shall place the item curbside for pickup on the designated <br />day for pickup as instructed by the City. <br /> <br />d. Reporting. The City shall be responsible for instituting a system to account for the <br />number of items picked up per residence, per year. The City shall notify the Contractor <br />when a residence has exceeded their allotted three bulky items to enable the contractor to <br />bill for any items beyond three pursuant to Attachment B. <br /> <br />e. Pickup in Excess of Three Items. The pickup of any bulky items in excess of three (3) <br />within any calendar year shall be subject to the charges as described in Attachment B. <br /> <br />5. Carts. Each residence is provided cart(s) as specified in the above services at no charge when the <br />account is established. Attachment A of the contract establishes additional fees for cart service <br />changes. Failure by the Contractor to notify the City of cart(s) b ein g “ou t of sto ck” may be <br />subject to a fine under the Liquidated Damages portion of the contract. <br /> <br /> <br />B. Service Schedule. <br /> <br />1. Hours. The Contractor shall perform all collection services between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and <br />6:00 p.m., on Monday through Friday, except when an emergency exists, at which time the <br />Contractor shall notify the City of such emergency <br /> <br />2. Collection Days. The Contractor shall provide Day-Certain refuse, recycling, bulky item, and <br />yard waste collection. Unless otherwise agreed to by the parties hereto, collection services will be <br />on Wednesdays with single sort occurring every other Wednesday. <br /> <br />a. The Contractor may request a change in the day of pickup by requesting such change in <br />writing to the City at least thirty (30) days from the proposed date the requested change is <br />to take effect. A change shall become effective only upon authorization from the City and a <br />fourteen-day notice to the residents. <br /> <br />b. The Contractor shall bear all costs involved in notifying residents of approved schedule <br />changes. <br /> <br />3. Holidays. The Contractor will observe the following legal holidays on which their offices and <br />operations will be closed: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, <br />Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When holidays fall on a Monday, Tuesday, or <br />Wednesday, the collection shall be made one (1) working day later. <br /> <br />4. Authorized Pickups. Only such pickups shall be made at assigned addresses and accounts as <br />authorized by the City pursuant to the terms of this Contract, and the Contractor shall not be <br />entitled to payment for any pickups not authorized by this Contract. <br /> <br />5. Street Improvements. The City reserves the right to improve any street or alley that may prevent <br />the Contractor from traveling its accustomed route or routes for collection. The Contractor shall <br />bear the responsibility for contacting the Public Works Director prior to each construction season <br />to determine areas of conflict and possible alternate routes or solutions.
