This <br />appendix is now changed to be Appendix K. <br /> <br /> <br />Appendix L <br /> <br />EMERGENCY RESPONDER RADIO COVERAGE <br />This appendix would give the city opportunity to require a minimum standard for radio coverage <br />in new and existing buildings. At the present time there are buildings in the city that fire <br />department radio coverage poor or non-existing. This is a safety issue for the public and the fire <br />fighters in a rescue situation. It is also imperative for fire command to have radio <br />communications with all members at the scene for firefighter safety. <br /> <br />At the present there are several buildings that have limited emergency radio coverage, St. Jude <br />Medical in the lower levels, the middle school in the lower levels, Fleur Royale in the garage and <br />basement area, the new senior high rise in the lower levels. Basically buildings with a large <br />amounts of concrete and steel make emergency radio communication difficult for normal radio <br />communication, there is a radio to radio channel on the fire department radios that has limited <br />range. <br /> <br />The radio issue also affects the Sheriff’s department, they may be able to contact dispatch in the <br />building that were mentioned for the fire department. <br /> <br /> <br />
