<br />Ordinance 810 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br /> <br />1. The recreational fire or cooking fire shall be contained in a fireplace, pit or fire ring, <br />designed for recreational or cooking purposes; <br /> <br />2. The size of the fire shall not exceed 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet; <br /> <br />3. The fire must be located at least 25 feet from the nearest structure and/or motor vehicle; <br />Conditions which could cause a fire to spread within 25 feet (7620 mm) of a structure <br />shall be eliminated prior to ignition. <br /> <br />4. A garden hose and water supply or other fire-extinguishing equipment must be available <br />and a competent person of at least 18 years of age must be in constant attendance until <br />the fire has been extinguished; Attendance. Open burning, bonfires, recreational fires and <br />use of portable outdoor fireplaces shall be constantly attended until the fire is <br />extinguished. A minimum of one portable fire extinguisher or other approved on-site fire- <br />extinguishing equipment, such as dirt, sand, water barrel, garden hose or water truck, <br />shall be available for immediate utilization. <br /> <br />5. No fire shall be permitted if the wind is in excess of 10 miles per hour; <br /> <br />6. Only clean wood may be used as fuel, and no fire accelerants shall be allowed. No yard <br />waste (leaves and grass clippings) rubber, plastics, chemically treated materials <br />(including treated lumber, tires, railroad ties, composite shingles, tar paper, insulation, <br />composition board, sheetrock, wiring, paint or paint filters, oil, hazardous waste, <br />industrial solid waste demolition debris etc. is allowed; <br /> <br />7. Portable outdoor fireplaces. Portable outdoor fireplaces shall be used in accordance with <br />the manufacturer's instructions and shall not be operated within 15 feet (3048 mm) of a <br />structure or combustible material. <br /> <br />8. A recreational fire or a portable outdoor fireplace shall be extinguished immediately if it <br />creates or adds to a hazardous situation, or generates smoke that becomes a nuisance to <br />adjacent or nearby properties. <br /> <br />9. Extinguishment authority. When open burning, a recreational fire or a portable outdoor <br />fireplace creates or adds to a hazardous situation, or a required permit has not been <br />obtained, the fire code official/designee is authorized to order extinguishment. <br /> <br />
