MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 23, 2002 Council discussed the matter, and the consensus was to wait and see if other communities participate in the program and then determine how it is working in those communities. SCHROEDER The City Administrator reviewed the proposed agreement with Schroeder MILK Milk that would allow them to connect one of their buildings to the City's AGREEMENT water system for fire suppression purposes. 1'he Administrator reviewed his analysis for calculating the connection fee. He noted that Schroeder Milk is reviewing the proposed agreement at this time. Mr. L,aValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUT/ON NO. 2002-1-18 -AUTHORIZ/NG THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO CONTINUE NEGOTIATING WITH SCHROEDER MILK FOR C'ONNEC770N TO THE CITY'S WATER SYSTEM AND A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO Ea'ECUTE THE CONNEC%7ONAGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CTTY OF LITTLE CANAUA The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Montour, Anderson, Fahey. Nays (0). COUNTY'S The City Administrator reported that Ramsey County is exploring the ORGANIZED possibility of implementing a public refuse collection system in order COLLECTION to address environmental issues and ensure adequate waste streams GTPORT tlowing into the NRG facility in Newport. Council discussed Little Canada's organized collection program, and Fahey felt that Little Canada was likely able to negotiate for better collection rates than the County could provide. Scalze agreed, pointing out that any system the County puts in place will require the County to pass on their administrative costs to property owners. The Administrator indicated that the report is for information purposes only, and he will keep the Council advised as the issue progresses. LOT SYL1T Council reviewed the recommendation of the Parks & Recreation Commission REVIEWS that staff discretion be utilized in deciding which lot splits should be referred to the Commission for their review relative to the issue of park charges.
