MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 23, 2002 <br />Council discussed the matter, and the consensus was to wait and see if other <br />communities participate in the program and then determine how it is working <br />in those communities. <br />SCHROEDER The City Administrator reviewed the proposed agreement with Schroeder <br />MILK Milk that would allow them to connect one of their buildings to the City's <br />AGREEMENT water system for fire suppression purposes. 1'he Administrator reviewed his <br />analysis for calculating the connection fee. He noted that Schroeder Milk is <br />reviewing the proposed agreement at this time. <br />Mr. L,aValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUT/ON NO. 2002-1-18 -AUTHORIZ/NG THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO CONTINUE NEGOTIATING WITH <br />SCHROEDER MILK FOR C'ONNEC770N TO THE CITY'S WATER <br />SYSTEM AND A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR AND CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO Ea'ECUTE THE CONNEC%7ONAGREEMENT <br />ON BEHALF OF THE CTTY OF LITTLE CANAUA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Montour, Anderson, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). <br />COUNTY'S The City Administrator reported that Ramsey County is exploring the <br />ORGANIZED possibility of implementing a public refuse collection system in order <br />COLLECTION to address environmental issues and ensure adequate waste streams <br />GTPORT tlowing into the NRG facility in Newport. <br />Council discussed Little Canada's organized collection program, and Fahey <br />felt that Little Canada was likely able to negotiate for better collection rates <br />than the County could provide. Scalze agreed, pointing out that any system the <br />County puts in place will require the County to pass on their administrative <br />costs to property owners. <br />The Administrator indicated that the report is for information purposes only, <br />and he will keep the Council advised as the issue progresses. <br />LOT SYL1T Council reviewed the recommendation of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />REVIEWS that staff discretion be utilized in deciding which lot splits should be referred to <br />the Commission for their review relative to the issue of park charges. <br />
