STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the Council

FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager

DATE: May 5, 2017

RE: Removal of Storage Shed next to Skating Park

Staff is proposing that the small brown storage shed next to the skating park be removed. The
shed is in need of maintenance and has continually been the target of graffiti and vandalism. The
current contents inside of the storage shed are minimal and staff feels there is room in other city-
owned facilities for these items.

There is a Little Canada resident interested in disassembling and relocating the shed for his own
personal use. Staff is coordinating a removal date with the resident and will have him sign a
release indemnifying the City. If the resident decides not to take the shed staff will remove and
dispose of it. The concrete slab will remain in place for the possibility of adding a secured bench
or picnic table. The storage shed will be removed by June 1, 2017.
