MINUT'L~'S OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council of <br />Little Canada, Minnesota was reconvened on the 18th day of February, 2002 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />TEI3RUARY 18, 2002 <br />Mayor Michael 1. Fahey <br />Ms. F3everly Scalze <br />Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Mr. Matt Anderson <br />Mr. Ricl< Montour <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />City Administrator <br />Planning Conun- <br />Accounting Supvr. <br />Deputy Clerk <br />Mr- Joel R Hanson <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Ms. Shelly Rueckert <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />RG;DLVCLOP- The purpose of tonight's continued workshop meeting is to conduct an additional <br />MINT interview Metro Plans relative to their redevelopment proposal for the southeast <br />PI20POSAI, corner of Rice Street and Little Canada Road. <br />MG'1'RO P1..AINS Laverne Hanson, Metro Plains, appeared before the Council and introduced his <br />colleagues, Gary Stenson, president of Metro Plains, as well as Kirk Vellet and Rick <br />Martens. <br />Fahey noted the list of questions prepared for discussion this evening and suggested <br />that the workshop focus on the answering of these questions. Fahey noted that with <br />regard to the timeline for the project, the Council would like a more aggressive <br />timeline than that proposed by Metro Plains. <br />Hanson indicated that Meuo Plains feels a Spring, 2003 construction start is a <br />realistic timeline, but agreed that it may be possible to move the project up further <br />depending on the number of neighborhood meetings as well as meetings with public <br />bodies that are necessary. The timeline is also somewhat dependent on the type of <br />financing that is utilized pointing out that there are application cycles for affordable <br />housing components that may impact timelines. <br />Martens reported that they are clearly motivated to move quickly through the process, <br />however, there are public/private processes that must be followed.
