MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FG6RUARY 18, 2002
The City Administrator expressed concern about Metro Plains willingness to
reimburse the City for land costs. He noted that applications for Livable
Communities Grants are due in June and are not awarded until December. Therefore,
if this is the means Metro Plains might use to reimburse the City, it will be December
before the City knows if that gap will be made up. The Administrator pointed out
that Sherman & Associates proposed paying for the townhome land as well as paying
some money for the Venetian site. Phis reimbursement to the City was not dependent
on grant dollars. The Administrator also pointed out that Ehlers & Associates felt
that the proposals were somewhat equal with Metro Plains taking a more
conservative approach than Sherman did. However, the Sherman proposal to make
up the gap was not dependent on grant dollars.
The Council directed the City Administrator to discuss this issue with Metro Plains
and address it in the preferred developer agreement. That agreement will be
presented to the Council on February 27°i. Should this be a point of contention in
drafting the agreement, the Council will discuss the issue in detail on February 27°i.
'there being no further business, the workshop was adjourned at 7: [ 0 p.m.
`I ~ "_ /\
Mel L Fahey, Mayor
Attest: _
Joel .Hanson, City Administrator
