<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Heidi Heller, City Clerk <br /> <br />DATE: May 19, 2017 <br /> <br />RE: Ordinance 814, Amending Chapter 703 of the City Code to Allow Off-Sale <br />Liquor Sales on Sundays <br /> <br /> <br />In March 2017, a new Minnesota State Law was signed that allows off-sale liquor sales on <br />Sundays, between the hours of 11:00am and 6:00pm, beginning on July 1, 2017. The law also <br />prohibits any deliveries of alcohol to off-sale liquor licensees on Sundays. Cities must amend <br />their City Codes by July 1 to allow the Sunday sales. Cities are not allowed to prohibit alcohol <br />sales on days they are allowed by state law, but cities can choose to be more restrictive on the <br />hours of sale. Staff has drafted Ordinance 814, amending Chapter 703.140 Subd. 2 of the City <br />Code to allow off-sale liquor sales on Sundays beginning July 1, 2017. The language in the <br />ordinance pertaining to the hours of sales and prohibiting deliveries corresponds to the state law <br />language. <br /> <br />Staff recommends adopting Ordinance 814, Amending Chapter 703.140 Subd. 2 of the City <br />Code to Allow Off-Sale Liquor Sales on Sundays, and prohibiting deliveries of alcohol on <br />Sundays. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
