I really don't want the city to spend money on a path to nowhere, which is what this would be.
Unfortunately, Savage Lake has suffered great harm in the past 20+ years and recreational use is
limited. The bottom has over a foot of sludge and the lake is shallow, so no swimming. There are no fish.
The lily pads take over the lake for the majority of the summer. In my experience, and I've lived in this
location for over 20 years, the lake is usable twice a year; in the winter for snowmobiling and cross
country skiing and in the spring it is usable for a short period of time for canoeing. I love to kayak, but
wouldn't do it in our lake due to the filthy and sludgy water. While it can be beautiful to look at, that's
all that could be done at the end of the wood chipped path which would need to be maintained so cost
money each year. Street parking is minimal, although that is the least of the problem. I think it would
attract trouble. People who are up to no good who want to be hidden from the road, public and/or
parents. I see the potential for the lake to get further polluted and we've fought hard to protect the lake
from pollution. Some of the proposed rain gardens were put in, but we never got ours. That would be
money well spent. I would prefer that we put more money into existing parks and access to lakes at those
existing parks. The Veteran Memorial Park comes to mind. I would rather see a path and dock at that
location. At least that lake is more usable. Perhaps we could get a volunteer to control the goose
population on that lake, too. There is no way to safely use a motorized boat on the lake. Paddle
boarding? If you fell in, you'd be covered in mud.
There will be no use to this swamp.

Old County Road C is way too busy traffic wise and note enough room to park safely! Not practical or
safe. Lake Street & Lakeshore is much better location.

Provide natural areas for public.

Due to the size and proximity of the lake, I believe it is of little value as a recreational area. Fishing in
this lake would be near impossible due to the fact it gets choked off by lily pads.

The lake is predominately weeds due to the people who live around the lake (removal of geese, fertilizer,
etc.) plus – parking is a problem.

This seems like nonsense to use taxpayer money for a nonsense proposal.

That area should be used only as nature preserve for nesting birds and other wildlife. The lake is not, in
my opinion, suitable for people navigating. Too small. What happened to the idea of Nadeau nature
preserve?

We’re fortunate to live in an area that offers 21 different parks, not including dog parks, within several
miles. This doesn’t include parks like Turtle Lake or Snail Lake Regional Park. The later includes a
boat landing, picnic and swimming areas and miles of walking and biking paths/trails. The 21 doesn’t
include Lake Vadnais for fishing or Lake Owasso, Gervais, Keller, or Johanna – all of which are
nearby.

Not enough space to park cars with trailers on the roads.
