MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />November 3, 2016 <br />The Director reported the bronze sign that had been stolen from Gervais <br />Mill Park had been replaced with a new sign made from different <br />materials. Another bronze commemorative plaque had also been stolen <br />from the Gilbertson Field Sign, this will also be replaced. <br /> <br />The Director reported that he met with the Mayor and City Administrator <br />last week, regarding his future employment. He explained to the <br />Commission he had previously offered to stay on through the spring of <br />2017, to help with the busier activity period, and to enable a smooth <br />transition with his replacement. The Director reported that the Mayor <br />stated he was not interested in the Director continuing on past the end of <br />this year. Chair Miller asked if there were any plans to replace the <br />Director. The Director stated that he was unaware of any plans, but the <br />Mayor had mentioned adding social media responsibilities to the position. <br />Chair Miller suggested this be discussed at the upcoming workshop. Chu <br />asked how long the Director has held his position. The Director stated he <br />has been working at the City for 35 years in his position, and full time for <br />about 27 years. Chu noted that this type of history should be documented <br />in some form. The Director explained it was available in a brochure from <br />the Little Canada Recreation Association’s 50th Anniversary. Sullivan <br />thanked Jim for his many years of service and noted how appreciative she <br />was of his work in the Parks and Recreation Department. Sanders echoed <br />Sullivan’s thank you adding that he had worked with Jim throughout his <br />entire time with Little Canada.
