MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />March 2, 2017 <br /> <br />The Recreation Supervisor reported the next Market Place Morning Talk <br />topic would be Knee Osteoarthritis and Physical Activity on March 8th at <br />9:30am. <br /> <br />The Recreation Supervisor reported slow pitch softball participation has <br />been dwindling, so she created a flyer solely for this activity and was able <br />to send it to all schools within the Roseville district. <br /> <br />Ray asked if there was a spring firearm safety class. The Recreation <br />Supervisor indicated there was and it began last week, and noted the class <br />was full with 25 participants. <br /> <br />Chair Miller asked if any sports were finishing their season. The <br />Recreation Supervisor reported basketball was just wrapping up and one <br />team would be in the championship game. <br /> <br />Chair Miller asked about the Ice Fishing Contest put on by the LCRA. <br />The Recreation Supervisor said it was a huge success. She noted the ice <br />rinks had to be closed the following week because of the warm weather, <br />and the Ice Skating Party was cancelled. <br /> <br />Chair Miller asked the Commission to begin thinking about where to go <br />for the parks tour. Horwath suggested considering traveling to parks <br />outside of the City to get additional ideas. <br /> <br />Sullivan asked if the City had any Earth Day events. The Recreation <br />Supervisor explained the City had an electronics recycling day, but it had <br />not yet been scheduled. The City Administrator explained the City had <br />gotten rid of scheduled cleanup days because it was easier to provide the <br />free trash pickup of three bulky items throughout the year.
