MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 24, 2017
puts their franchise fees in a separate fund, but some cities put theirs into
the general fund so it would be harder for them to give some up. Keis
asked when the NSCC Board needs to know what the city wants to do.
Ms. Wilson stated they will be working on this over the next few months
and start malting decisions by late summer. Keis stated that he is not yet
aware of what exactly the NSCC Board is asking the cities for. Montour
stated the Board does not know yet either, but will be working on more
specific numbers soon.
SECURITY The Public Works Director reported that the warming house at the Old
SYSTEM AT FIRE Fire Hall was vandalized for the second time in March and a lot of damage
BARNS RINK was done. He explained that since the building is tucked away from easy
BUILDING visibility, Staff has opted to get bids to add a security system. Staff
received quotes from Sentry Systems for $544 for the system and $29.95
per month for monitoring services, and Electro -Watchman for $774 for the
system and $24.95 per month for monitoring services. He noted that
Electro -Watchman offers a little more services and the monthly
monitoring fee is less, so it would become a better value after three years.
He stated that Electro -Watchman currently provides services for the City
and they have been good to work with.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2017-5-94 APPROVE CONTRACTING WITH
ELECTRO -WATCHMAN TO PROVIDE A SECURITY SYSTEMAND
SYSTEM MONITORING AT THE OLD FIRE HALL WARMING
HOUSE FOR A COST UP TO $800 WITH MONITORING SERVICE
COSTS OF $24.95 PER MONTH
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
SECURITY The Public Works Director stated cameras have been installed at Pioneer
CAMERAS AT Park, Spooner Park and the public works building. He explained that staff
OLD FIRE HALL is looping to do this at the Old Fire Hall and spate board park due to the
recent vandalism, and it would allow Wi-Fi and a telephone to be installed.
in the Old Fire Hall. He noted that there have been some issues with the
rental hall and the cameras would help monitor that also. He stated that
there is no fiber optic cable at the Old Fire Hall but there is a line of sight
from there to City Hall, so an antenna and radio system can be put at each
location and the Old Fire Hall can be set up on Roseville's IT system.
