With a number of community events
coming up in the next several weeks, most notably Canadian Days, we are working on getting
an online community survey up and running by middle to late July. We will want to be able to
provide notification of the survey in the next newsletter, with a deadline in the second week of
July for material.

As such, we would like to take some time to discuss possible survey questions, including both
topics and wording. We envision a survey that is something in the range of just 15 questions or
so, with some Comp Plan related, some Parks Plan related, and then a couple of demographic
questions about the respondent.

Attached is an example of a handful of Comp Plan questions to start the discussion. We have
also provided a copy of the Comp Plan on-line survey that Roseville has been running – theirs is
quite long. It was our belief that a shorter survey will encourage more respondents to get to the
end and submit it – longer surveys often lose respondents since these are voluntary answer
tools.

We expect to promote the survey, as noted, with a notice in the newsletter, notification on
Facebook, as well as booth space at Canadian Days on Saturday, August 5th, among other
avenues. The survey itself will be accessed via a link on the City’s website.

In addition to discussion of survey questions, we will have a graphic example of an issues
exhibit which will form the model for our Canadian Days presence, and will make its way into the
Comprehensive Plan document itself. With this material complete by the end of summer, the
actual document will begin to take shape in the fall.
Please give some thought to the survey questions – either these examples (good or bad), and
any other topic you believe that we should design a question around.

Thanks very much.
