MINUTES OR T~H>< SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COiJNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINN~I;SOTA <br />FEBRUARY 28, 2002 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City Council of <br />Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 28th day of February, 2002 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said <br />City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br />Ms. Beverly Scalze <br />Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Mr. Rick Montour <br />ABSENT <br />ALSO PRESENT <br />Council Member <br />City Administrator <br />Accounting Supvr. <br />Deputy Clerk <br />Mr. Matt Anderson <br />Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Ms. Shelly Rueckert <br />Ms_ Kathy Glanzer <br />METRO The Council reviewed the responses of Metro Plains and George Sherman <br />PLAINS & Associates relative to the redevelopment of the southeast corner of <br />ANll Rice Street and Little Canada Road with a senior housing/retail project <br />SIiERMAN and senior townhome component. It was the consensus of the Council <br />& that the responses of Sherman & Associates were more advantageous from <br />ASSOCIATES the City's position given their guarantee they will reimburse the City for its $2 <br />million in expenses, reduce the density of townhomes, as well as market the <br />townhomes to seniors. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 2002-2-4X -REVOKING THE TENTATIVE <br />P/ZEFERRED DEVELOPER STATUS FROM METRO PLAINS AND <br />SELECTING GEORGE SHERMAN & ASSOCIATES AS THE <br />DEVELOPER FOX THE SOUTHEAST CORNF..R OF' RICE STREET AND <br />/.ITT LE CANADA ROAD .SUI3.IEC'%' TO F_XF_CUTION OF A <br />PRELIMINARY DEVEI OPMENT AG/ZF.EMENT ON MARCFI I3, 2002 <br />CONF/RMING THE CONTENTS' OF HIS" RESPONSES TO THE CITY'S <br />~UES770NS RELATIVE TO THE PROJEC"T <br />
