MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 12, 2017
PARKING LOT The City Administrator stated that the City Engineer has worked on the
LIGHTING AT proposal for new parking lot lighting at the Fire Station, and also a
THE FIRE proposal to replace or retrofit the City Hall parking lots. He explained that
STATION AND this would be energy savings and there are small rebates available through
CITY HALL Xcel Energy. He stated that the lighting costs at the Fire Station are
higher than originally anticipated; however, more lights were necessary.
The City Administrator stated that the City Hall parking lot light
improvements were not included in the original 2017 budget, but Staff felt
it may be a good time to switch the lights to more efficient LED fixtures at
this point due to the lighting work that is necessary at the Fire Station. He
reported the two bids that were received are very close. He stated that the
City Hall lights could either be retrofitted or full replacement of the poles
and fixtures, but the poles are in relatively good condition. He noted that
the lighting at the Fire Station was part of the capital improvement budget,
but the City Hall improvements are not. He stated that with the budget
transfer that will occur, there is no problem with the additional $13,000
cost. Staff recommends awarding the base bid to Master Electric
Company in the amount of $53,078.00 and to utilized the retrofit option
for City Hall.
Fischer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION 2017-7-119 —AWARD THE BID TO MASTER
ELECTRIC FOR NEW PARKING LOT LIGHTING AT THE FIRE
STATION, AND RETROFITTING THE EXISTING LIGHT POLES
AT CITYHALL FOR A TOTAL COST OF $53,078.00
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Aye (5).
Nays (0). She stated that only weeds are growing and the neighborhood
STREET
looks terrible. She stated it needs more work than just being reseeded, and
IMPROVEMENT
the way it was graded just makes the water runs off, and what is growing
PROJECT
gets sheared off when they mow because it is a mound.
RESTORATION
PROBLEMS
Lounne Kelly, 2486 Morrison Street, stated that her boulevard grass is
also not growing even though she has watered diligently.
