PARK SYSTEM MASTER PLAN <br />CANADIAN DAYS ENGAGEMENT SUMMARY <br />“PLACE A DOT NEXT TO YOUR TOP PRIORITIES” <br />On Saturday, August 5 2017, a community engagement event was held at Canadian Days in Spooner Park. Three <br />SEH project team members were present from 9am to 1pm, after which the boards remained available for comment <br />in the City’s engagement tent with City staff. The goal of the event was to gather ideas, wants, and priorities from <br />the community in regards to the City’s parks. Approximately 50 people visited the pop-up tent, and1 10 people <br />interacted with the ‘engagement wagon’, which was circulating throughout the park during the event. A summary of <br />the results is provided below. <br />OTHER RESULTS <br />• Add nature preservation areas within existing parks: 1 1 dots <br />• Acquire land for future park/nature area development: 6 dots <br />• Develop more active recreation opportunities (lacrosse, <br />kayaking, flag football, etc): 8 dots <br />• Develop indoor recreation facilities (recreation center, active <br />field complex, etc): 8 dots <br /> Comments: city rental <br />• Write-in: Universal access – ADA – at all parks <br />TOP PRIORITIES INCLUDE: <br />• Making trail connections -18 dots <br />• Adding nature / historic programming - 17 dots <br />• Maintaining / enhancing existing facilities - 15 dots <br />• Developing more passive recreation opportunities - 14 dots <br />Community members placed dots next to their top priorities <br />The priority board filled with dots and comments
