MINUTES
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
July 6, 2017
The Community Services Manager reported the LCRA was sponsoring a
bus trip to the Twins game for all of the Little Canada Baseball and
Softball players and coaches. He explained this included about 50 people,
and noted what a great opportunity it was for young ball players to get a
chance to watch professionals play.

The Community Services Manager reported a security system had been
installed at the Old Fire Hall Warming House. He explained the
restoration would now begin, and the bathrooms would continue to be
locked unless the warming house is staffed. The Community Services
Manager noted cameras would be put on the Old Fire Hall to monitor
activities. He also stated the shed had not yet been removed, as the
resident who planned to take it backed out. He reported Public Works was
working on getting a disposal bin to get rid of it. The Community Services
Manager also noted fireworks had been shot off behind the shed, and
hoped its removal would prevent illicit activity.

Schletty asked if the Pioneer Park Courts would also be resurfaced this
year. The Community Services Manager reported the Council approved
dual striping and an additional $8,000 to complete the resurfacing of the
Pioneer Courts. He will also look into the cost of adding the City logo to
the courts. He explained the resurfacing wouldn’t start until late August.
Ray asked if the City was going to organize a pickleball tournament. The
Community Services Manager explained he would like to have a
tournament, but the Canadian Days schedules were already printed, and it
was a little too late to organize everything.

Schletty moved the meeting be adjourned

Motion seconded by Sullivan.

Motion carried 5 – 0.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Anna Leibel
Recording Secretary

ADJOURN
