MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />July 6, 2017 <br />The Community Services Manager reported the next Market Place <br />Morning Talk topic is Falls Prevention on July 12, 2017 at 9:30am. He <br />stated blood pressure testing will take place before the talk from 8:45 to <br />9:20. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the Annual Hotdog with a <br />Deputy event in Pioneer Park was a great success. He explained 680 <br />hotdogs were handed out, and pictures of the event were posted on the <br />City’s Facebook page. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the dog park is almost <br />complete, but the City was waiting on approval to use the Ice Rink from <br />Roseville Area Middle School. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager stated the pickleball demos went well. <br />He reported there were 22 people in attendance throughout the two <br />sessions. The Community Services Manager explained the Instructor, <br />Wally Grant, led the demonstrations which included instruction and play. <br />He stated he was working on putting together dedicated pickleball times at <br />the Spooner Park Court to help facilitate additional play and connect <br />pickleball players. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the City hired James Netz a <br />local photographer to take pictures at the Hotdog with a Deputy event and <br />pickleball demonstrations. These photos will be used in the Le Petit, social <br />media, and on the City website. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported the Ice Cream Social will be <br />on August 3, he invited the Commission to attend. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported there would be two Movie in <br />the Park Events. He explained Sing would be on August 17th and Finding <br />Dory would be on August 31st at the Spooner Park band shell, beginning at <br />dusk. The Community Services Manager explained he was speaking with <br />the LCRA about providing concessions. The Commission noted a small <br />donation or price would be acceptable if that would enable the event to <br />have concessions. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manger reported the Farmer’s Market will begin <br />on July 10. He explained 6 vendors and a Master Gardener would be in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />The Community Services Manager reported basketball, soccer, soccer <br />clinic, and volleyball league registration is open for this fall. He stated <br />adult softball leagues were also underway, and a defensive driving class <br />on August 14th is also open for registration.
